my little pony: friendship is magic is a franchise that has meant a lot to me for a very long time! it's brought me so much comfort and joy over the years, and a lovely place to escape when things are a little too much.
if i had to say, i think my favourite things about the series are the worldbuilding, the songs, and feelings of hope and companionship the show evokes! i also adore the character and background designs a lot, and of course the ponies! ive always been drawn to media with animal protagonists, especially ones where the animals are feral and aren't pets. not that i dont love anthro stories, of course, but theres just something about being a critter...
another thing is the fanbase! needless to say it does have a certain reputation, but growing up the sense of community and the passion put into fan projects, whether they were songs and animations or figures and plushies, was something that always amazed and inspired me, and was a big part of my early internet experience and art journey!

as aforementioned, one of my favourite things about MLP:FiM is the music!! below are some of my favourite songs of the series, in no particular order.
opening theme
this one may seem obvious to put here, but a fun fact is that growing up i actually didn't like the main theme at all! i only came around to it after discovering the full version, which to this day i adore so much more than the tv-sized version. i really love the bridge higlighting each mane 6 members's names, as well as the repeated "did you know you're all my very best friends" part at the end i think its SOO good
this day aria
also obviously, i HAD to put this one up here. it's so well known for a reason! i don't have much else to say its just SO good, the power and the absolute drama of it all had me losing it as a kid and it still goes so hard to this day
you'll play your part
an absolutely GORGEOUS and comforting song!! the three part harmony at the climax of the song is heavenly and never fails to impress. i love this song a whole lot, it's so beautiful and triumphant! definitely a song i loop a lot
becoming popular
such a lovely rarity song! i always loved this one so much as a kid, and now, for reasons i can't quite describe? its just a fun bop, and so catchy!
ballad of the crystal empire
this song just has such a bouncy and happy feel to it!! it just feels so loving to me? i guess that may have to do with the context of them trying to help the crystal ponies, but either way it has such a nice and warm vibe to it i feel :] and i LOVE the instrumentation behind it, so so much!!
